AIA Middle East plans to organize a series of events including project tours, lectures by regional and international architects and professionals in the construction industry, film series, and panel discussions of relevant issues. These events will create a forum for the exchange of ideas and networking among industry professionals. For AIA members, these events will be recognized by AIA for continued education points.

To become an architect, you will need to complete several steps designed to build your skills and ensure you are ready to competently design spaces that protect the public health, safety, and welfare.

Alex I. Albani, Professor of Architecture at the American University in Dubai, will present on a range of licensure topics relevant to foreign-educated licensure candidates and foreign architects. The presentation will review the steps necessary to achieve licensure to become an architect and other programs to get the most out of your career in architecture.

Learning Objectives:

Learn about the different paths to earning a license and the entities involved in the licensure process.
Learn about the key aspects of the Architect’s Experience Program (AXP), how to progress successfully through them, and what tasks are essential for competent practice.
Learn about the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) and when and where to take each exam.
Learn about the Architect Licensing Advisors Community and explore resources available to the international community through Architect Licensing Advisors and NCARB.
